BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia College women's basketball team hosted the Philadelphia University Rams on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup. The Clippers were unable to earn a victory at the Meyer Athletic Center as Philadelphia secured an 85-60 win.
The first half saw both teams neck and neck to begin the game. Concordia trailed by a point five minutes into the period until a 6-0 run for the Rams gave the away team the 15-8 lead. The Clippers responded with nine unanswered points to take a 17-15 with 8:50 to go in the half. Philadelphia regained the lead after a 13-2 run to take a nine-point advantage with under four minutes to go. The Rams ended the half on a 9-5 run as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 37-27.
In the second half the Clippers came out score the first two baskets to cut their deficit to six points, 37-31. Philadelphia would then open up their lead to double digits after a 19-2 run would give the Rams a 56-33 lead with 12 minutes to go. Concordia then used an 11-5 run to close the gap but Philadelphia would not give up their lead as the Rams went on to take the 85-60 victory.
Sophomore Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 19 points while adding four rebounds and a game-high four assists. Senior KellyAnn Caravello (Amity Harbor, N.Y.) added a career-high 18 points which included four three-point baskets.
As a team Concordia shot 42.4% from the field in the game while Philadelphia shot 47.5%. The Rams held a 36-29 rebounding advantage over the Clippers as Philadelphia out-scored Concordia 17-4 on fastbreak points.
The Clippers (4-21, 4-14 CACC) will close out their season on Tuesday evening with a CACC North Division matchup against Felician College. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. in Bronxville as the night is also Senior Night.
