WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball battled Indiana University (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon at the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament hosted by West Chester University. Concordia would drop a 96-62 decision against the Crimson Hawks at the Hollinger Fieldhouse.
In the first half the Clippers scored the game's first points but IUP would then score 12 of the next 14 points to take a 12-4 advantage 3:45 into the game. The Crimson Hawks used a 16-0 run to hold a 28-6 lead almost midway through the period.
Freshman Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) broke the scoreless drought for Concordia with a three-point basket at the 10:09 mark which sparked a 13-7 run for the Clippers. IUP would continue to keep the sizable lead on the scoreboard as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 59-28.
The beginning of the second half saw the Crimson Hawks score the opening basket as the Clippers would respond with 12 unanswered points at 62-40 only 4:07 into the period. Concordia would have a stronger offensive performance in the second half with many small runs throughout the period. However, the deficit proved to be too much for the Clippers as IUP held on for the 96-62 win.
Sophomore Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with a career-high 19 points as she also added team-highs of three steals and three assists. Freshman Kayla Ortiz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a career-best 12 points while freshman Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 10 points and record a team-high six rebounds.
As a team the Clippers shot 46.0% from the field while the Crimson Hawks shot 49.3%. IUP held a 37-25 advantage in rebounds as the Crimson Hawks' bench out-scored Concordia's bench 31-19.
The Clippers (0-2) will return home for their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and home opener against Post University on Wednesday, November 19th.
