Concordia Women's Volleyball Sweeps Felician, 3-0, for CACC Victory

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's volleyball team earned an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division victory on Saturday afternoon as Concordia swept the visiting Felician Golden Falcons, 3-0.

The Clippers began the match with a 7-2 lead in the first set as Felician would close to gap to 8-6 after a 4-1 run. From here Concordia would score 12 of the next 13 points to lead by double digits, 20-7. The Clippers would keep their momentum going by closing out the set on a 5-2 run to take a 25-10 victory.

Set two began with both teams neck-and-neck as the two sides would be tied 6-6 in the early going. Concordia would score eight unanswered points to lead 14-6 as they would increase their advantage to double digits, 18-8. The Clippers would not allow the visitors to mount a late comeback as Concordia took a 25-14 win and a 2-0 set advantage in the match.

The Golden Falcons would come out with an early lead in the third set until a 9-0 run allowed the Clippers to lead 11-4. Felician would get to within six, 15-9, but Concordia would quickly open up a double digit advantage. The Clippers ended the set on a 10-4 run overall as Concordia took a 25-13 victory to earn the 3-0 sweep over the Golden Falcons.

Senior Jenny Martin (Simi Valley, Calif.), junior Lauren Peters (Monterey Park, Calif.), and sophomore Thalia Hoyos (Caguas, Puerto Rico) each recorded eight kills for the Clippers on offense as junior Bianca Ortiz (Ponce, Puerto Rico) finished with a match-high 23 assists. Senior Celine Arada (San Francisco, Calif.) led the defense for Concordia with 11 digs as she also recorded her 1,000th career dig during the first set of the match. She currently has 1,010 digs in her collegiate career.

The Clippers (5-13, 5-12 CACC) will play in their final regular season home match on Wednesday evening against Nyack College.
