Concordia Women's Volleyball Earns CACC North Division Win Over Bloomfield, 3-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia College women's volleyball team returned home on Wednesday evening to host Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division match in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Clippers would earn a 3-0 victory over the Bears to split the season series.

Bloomfield would begin the first set with an 8-2 advantage as Concordia would battle their way back to knot the set at 11-11. From here the Clippers used a 7-4 run to open up a three point lead, 18-15, as the Bears would call a timeout to regroup. Concordia would allow back-to-back points to let Bloomfield get within a point, but ended the set on a 7-2 run to take a 25-19 opening set victory.

In the second set the Bears would once again take the earn advantage, but the Clippers would use a 15-4 run to lead 18-9. Bloomfield looked to mount a comeback as the visitors out-scored Concordia 8-2 to get within striking distance at 20-17. The Bears would only get to within two points of tying the set as the Clippers would hold on for a 25-22 win and hold a 2-0 set advantage in the match.

Concordia would be the team to control the scoreboard in the beginning of the third set with a 7-4 lead, but Bloomfield used four unanswered points to take an 8-7 advantage as the Clippers called timeout. The Bears would lead 13-11 later in the set until six unanswered points for Concordia allowed them to take a 17-13 advantage. Bloomfield would slowly cut into the deficit and had it down to one, 20-19, but the Clippers ended the set with five of the last six points to take a 25-20 victory and earn a 3-0 sweep.

Senior Jenny Martin (Simi Valley, Calif.) led Concordia with 11 kills as she also had a team-high 20 assists for the double-double. Sophomore Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) added seven kills while senior Celine Arada (San Francisco, Calif.), Martin, and Tugade-Sua all had five digs on the defensive end.

The Clippers (3-12, 3-11 CACC) will next travel to CACC North Division foe Dominican College (N.Y.) on Tuesday evening.
