Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia (N.Y.) Clippers women's volleyball team returned from their California trip to host Nyack this evening. In a well-played match, the Clippers late run would come up short as the Warriors won 3-1 on Black and Royal Night.
All four sets in the match were played very close. The Warriors would edge the Clippers in the first two sets by a total of nine points (25-21, 25-20). Everyone on the court for Concordia wanted to earn their first win of the season and their intensity showed as they ended the second set.
In the third set, the Clippers would turn the tables and put on an offensive show for the crowd. Concordia would win the third set to stay alive and held Nyack to only 13 points.
The fourth set was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams as the home crowd at the Meyer Athletic Center tried to be the "seventh" player on the court to gain an edge. After a timeout with the score tied 23-23, the Warriors would put the game away to win the final set 25-23 and take the 3-1 win.
Concordia (0-4, 0-1 CACC) will have almost a week off until their next match. The Clippers will travel to face non-conference opponent Molloy on Tuesday September 13th for a 7pm start.
