Clippers fall twice in tri-match at Wilmington University
The Clippers headed down to Wilmington University to face off against the Wildcats from Wilmington and the Bears from NYIT. The Clippers first challenge was a CACC match with Wilmington University.
To start the Clippers first match off they took an early 7-4 lead over the Wildcats. The Wildcats then struck hard against the Clippers overtaking them with a scoring run of 21-8. With completing shutting the Clippers down the Wildcats took set one.
Set two with the Wildcats saw the Clippers once again take an early lead. The Clippers held up their lead throughout the set with the help of three kills each from Chelsea Zurcher and Irina Impellitiere the Clippers were in control of the set. With a kill fro Zurcher set by Hillary Hoffman the Clippers sealed set two with a 25-14 victory.
Turning the tides back the Wildcats came out roaring in set three over the Clippers. The Clippers soon found themselves down 16-10 and a kill from Juliann Gillespie helped the ball return to the Clippers serve. With strong serving from Brittany Chappas and the addition of a few more kills from Gillespie the Clippers climbed back into the game only finding themselves down by just three. Fighting their way back against the Wildcats proved tough and unfortunately the Clippers ran out of points and were down 2-1 in the match.

he Clippers went toe to toe with the Wildcats in set four as they
started off behind and worked their way back to eventually tieing
the game up at 16-16. The Wildcats then started to come back
at the Clippers and overtake their game. The Clippers fought
hard to hold on in the game but the Wildcats stole set four and the
match.
With one match done the Clippers hit the court immediately after for their match with the Bears. The Clippers went up to start the first set but the Bears soon gained on the Clippers and took the lead. With a few points here and there the Clippers tried to make their move back into the set but fell short as the Bears took set one.
The Bears took the early lead in set two as the Clippers were down 16-9. With a few small service runs and a four point service run from Amanda Margedant the Clippers moved up to within a few points. The Clippers kept pushing forward but the Bears moved faster as took set two.
Set three saw the Clippers facing a deficit once again. Though the Bears were ahead the Clippers stood tough and played out every point. The Clippers started to cut their deficit a few points at a time but the Bears were too much and the Clippers dropped the match.
The Clippers will next face off at Southern Connecticut State University on Monday, October 4th at 7:00pm.
