Bronxville, NY - Deacons take season series from Clippers
The Clippers volleyball team were visited by the Bloomfield College Deacons in the second half of the season series. The Deacons took the early lead in the first set and did not look back. The service game from the Deacons was too strong as the Clippers attempted to get back into the game. The Deacons took the first set 25-12.
The Deacons once again, in the second set, took the early lead. The Clippers struggled with their serve receive and fell to the Deacons 25-11, giving the Deacons the 2-0 lead.
The Clippers found their stride in the third set as they took the first lead of the match. The Clippers continued to fight for every ball even as the Deacons pushed back hard. With the Deacons pushing back the Clipper lead started to waver. The Deacons were then able to tie the game and then take the lead away from the Clippers. The Clippers tried to gain back what was lost but were unfortunately stopped and fell to the Deacons in three.
Chelsea Zurcher and Olivia Thompson each had 5 kills. Amanda
Byrd dug the ball big with 14 digs while Courtney Hanson was right
behind with 12 digs. Amanda Margedant pushed out 13 set
assists.
The Clippers will host the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia this Saturday, October 17th at 1:00pm.
