Bronxville, NY - Clippers push the boundaries in tough match against the Devils
The Clippers hosted the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Devils in a CACC match-up. The Devils took the early lead but thanks to the serving of Chelsea Zurcher the Clippers took the lead back. The set was then a back and forth battle with each team taking their leads and then losing them. The Devils were looking at set one with a five point lead but the serving talents of Dana St. Cyr were able to come back and take a one point lead over the Devils. Both teams worked hard and match pushed on. The Devils were able to get a kill to take set one 34-32.
The Devils once again took the early lead in set two but the Clippers were able to push back. The Clippers fell behind with the Devils tough serving. Trying to nab a win the Devils took set two 25-18.
The Clippers once again faced off with the Devils in a back and
forth battle of the net. The Devils broke away first but the
Clippers came back into the match. With the Devils looking to
close out the match and the Clippers looking to go into another set
it would be either team's game. The Devils over passed the
ball off of a serve and it found the floor on the Clippers
court. The Devils took the match in three.
Chelsea Zurcher and Olivia Thompson each led with 8 kills on the match with Courtney Hanson right behind with 7 kills and Alicia Oberle with 6 kills. Amanda Margedant had 26 set assists while Amanda Byrd dug up 15.
The Clippers will head to Nyack College on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 for a 7:00pm game.
