Bronxville, NY - Clippers fall to Griffins in fifth set
The Clippers hosted the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in their last home game of the season. The Clippers and the Griffins battled back and forth for the lead in the first set. The Clippers were the first to pull away with a small lead that would sustain them for the first set. With a kill by Olivia Thompson the Clippers took set one 25-22.
The Griffins came back with some momentum and took an early lead in the second set. The Clippers battled back to tie the game up at 20 each. With a late surge the Griffins took set two 25-22 evening the score at one all.
The Clippers battling with just six players fought hard in the third set and took the lead. The Griffins fought back and were able to tie the game up at 13. The Clippers and the Griffins then went back and forth moving ahead then tying the set up. The Clippers took the last push under the service run of Courtney Hanson to take set three 25-22.
Back and forth was the name of set four as both teams were settling
in. The Griffins soared ahead and took the first comfortable
lead of the set. The Clippers tried to battle back but
couldn't cut the lead far enough and dropped the fourth set and
pushing it to a deciding fifth set for the first time in the
Clippers season.
The Clippers took the first lead in the fifth set but the Griffins came roaring back. The Clippers attempted to fight back but were unable and fell in the fifth set 15-11.
Olivia Thompson hit a match high of 21 kills. Amanda Margedant worked another double-double as she had 25 set assists and 15 digs for the match.
The Clippers will finish out their season in one week as they head to Georgian Court University on November 7th.
