Wilmington, DE - Clippers sink in four against the Lightning strike
The Concordia College women's volleyball team traveled to
Wilmington, Delaware to face off against Goldey-Beacom
College.
The Clippers still looking for their first win of the season worked
hard in the first set. The Clippers found their offense often
and early and out attacked the Lightning as they produced 14 kills
to the Lightning's 6 in the set. The Clippers took set number
one 25-20 over the Lightning.
With set two the battle was on as the points went back and forth. The Clippers pushed hard but just missed as they dropped the second set 27-29.
With the match all tied up at this point momentum could go either way. The third set the Clippers continued to fight hard but the set slipped into the Lightning's hands.
The Clippers went up in the fourth set with a lead of five. The Lightning struck back and came back into the game pushed the Clippers. The Clippers unfortunately lost the third set 24-26 and the Lightning took the match.
The Clippers were led offensively by Olivia Thompson with 15 kills
and Courtney Hanson with 14 kills. Amanda Margadent totaled
45 assists while Amanda Byrd and Courtney Hanson each dug up
17.
The Clippers will next head to Felician College on Tuesday,
September 29, 2009 for a 7:00pm game.
