Volleyball Loses Heartbreaker to Molloy 3-2

Bronxville, NY -  The Concordia College volleyball team suffered a 3-2 heartbreaking loss to ECC foe Molloy College last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Scores were 14-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 8-15.

 

 

 Freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) posted a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs on the night. Margedant also had 4 service aces. Freshman Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) had a team high 14 kills to go along with 5 digs and 2 service aces. Freshman Alicia Oberle (Savannah, GA) hit .467 (10 kills, 3 errors, 15 attempts) for the match. Sophomore libero Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) anchored the defense with a team high 22 digs.

For the Lions, Angelica Nicalek totaled a match high 15 kills and 6 digs. Catherine Russini finished with 14 kills, while Meaghan Meyer and Tina Kingadded 13 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Danielle Sekesan led all players with a match high 33 digs.

The loss drops the Clippers to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the East Coast Conference. Molloy improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in ECC play.

Up next for the Clippers are the defending ECC Champions, the Dowling College Golden Lions on Thursday, September 11th at the Meyer Athletic Center, First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
