Volleyball Edges Nyack in 5-Set Thriller
Nyack, NY - The Concordia College volleyball team defeated the Warriors of Nyack College 3-2 last night at Bowman Gymnasium in Nyack, NY.
The Warriors took the first set 25-15. The Clippers rebounded to take a very close 2nd set 28-26. The Clippers went up 2 games to 1 after a 25-18 victory in the 3rd set. Nyack tied the match with a 4th set 25-14 win.
The Clippers looked to take a decisive 5th set after jumping out to a 10-5 lead. Nyack would play even over the next few points and would battle back from a 14-10 deficit to tie the set at 14-14. The lead changed hands back and forth over the next few points before the Clippers pulled out the 21-19 win in the decisive 5th set.
Freshman Amanda Margedant (LaHabra Heights, CA) and Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) each finished with 13 kills. Sophomore Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) finished with a team high 16 digs.
The Clippers improve to 2-5 on the season while Nyack College loses their 5th straight match to fall to 1-5 overall.
Concordia will be back on the court on Tuesday, September 9th, as they open ECC play against the Lions of Molloy College at the Meyer Athletic center. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
