Clippers Lose to Mavericks 3-0
Dobbs Ferry, NY - The Concordia College volleyball team lost a 3-0 match to the Mavericks of Mercy College last night at Mercy Gymnasium in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Set scores were 14-25, 17-25 and 22-25.
Freshman Alicia Oberle (Savannah, GA) led the Clippers with 8 kills and 2 blocks. Freshman Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) added 4 kills, 12 assists and 7 digs. Freshman Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) had 3 kills and 9 digs. Sophomore Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) had a team high 13 digs and 3 service aces while freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) chipped in 8 digs.
For the Mavericks, Shedeiky Hamilton finished with 10 kills and 13 digs. Diana Bruzzone added 9 kills, 14 digs and 3 service aces. Bridgette Pennelle ran the Mercy offense and dished out 27 assists.
The loss keeps the Clippers winless in the East Coast Conference at 0-5 and drops their overall record to 2-11. The Mavericks improve to 5-9 overall and 1-5 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will return to action on Tuesday, September 30th as they travel to Garden City, NY to face the Panthers of Adelphi University. The action gets underway at 7:00 PM.
