Volleyball Falls to Wilmington 3-1
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College volleyball team was defeated by the Wilmington University Wildcats 3-1 yesterday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Set scores were 25-15, 12-25, 18-25 and 12-25.
Freshman outside hitter Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) collected her third double-double of the season, finishing with 11 kills, 2 service aces and a team high 16 digs. Freshman outside hitter Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) also had 11 kills, to go along with 5 digs and 2 assists. Sophomore libero Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) added 14 digs and 4 assists while freshman setter Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) had 24 assists, 7 digs and 7 kills.
For the Wildcats, Caitlin Hess pounded down a match high 17 kills and Ashley Carberry added 10 kills. Meghan Frick had 6 kills and 11 digs. Kerry Collins and Shannon Rumple both ran the offense and each finished with 17 assists on the afternoon. Collins added 13 digs and Rumple chipped in 10 digs. Kim Shropshire led all defenders with 18 digs.
The Clippers lose their fifth straight match and fall to 2-10 on the season. Wilmington improves to 7-8 overall.
The Clippers will jump back into East Coast Conference action on Thursday, September 25th as they travel to Dobbs Ferry, NY to take on the Mavericks of Mercy College. The match will begin at 7:00 PM.
