Knights Slay Clippers 3-0
Bronxville, NY - Sophomore libero Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) anchored the defense with a team high 8 digs, but it wasn't enough as the Clippers fell to the visiting Knights of Queens College 3-0 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Set scores were 14-25, 13-25, 16-25.
Freshman outside hitter Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) finished with 7 kills and 4 digs and freshman outside hitter Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) added 6 kills and 4 digs. Freshman setter Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) dished out 13 assists and had 2 kills, while freshman opposite Carmen Juan (Bronx, NY) chipped in 2 digs for the Clippers.
For Queens College, Enobong Shammah pounded down a match high 23 kills and registered 7 digs. Natalie Edward finished with 14 kills, 2 service aces and 2 digs. Latoya Edward had 6 kills to go along with a match high 13 digs and Antonia Klein ran the Knight offense with 42 assists.
The loss drops the Clippers to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in the East Coast Conference. The Knights improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will look for their first home win of the year on Sunday, September 21st, as they battle the Wildcats of Wilmington University. The Wildcats defeated Concordia 3-0 at the Wildcat Invitational Tournament on August 30th. First serve is set for 1:00 PM
