Concordia Falls to Bridgeport 3-0
Bridgeport, CT - The Concordia College volleyball team was defeated by the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport 3-0 last night at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport, CT. Scores were 11-25, 8-25 and 15-25. The loss drops the Clippers record to 2-24 on the season and 0-15 in the East Coast Conference. Bridgeport improves to 23-11 overall and 11-4 in the East Coast Conference.
Freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) led the Clipper offense with 5 kills and also registered 5 digs and 2 block assists. Freshman Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) and Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) each added 3 kills. Wise directed the offense for Concordia and finished with 10 assists, while adding 3 service aces and 3 digs. Gillespie had a team high 8 digs. Sophomore Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) chipped in 7 digs for the Clippers.
For bridgeport, Olga Sidorova tallied a match high 13 kills, while Brittany Biggs finished with 7 kills. Emma Ariyo and Juliana Moraes each added 6 kills. Bridgeport setter Milica Micovic dished out 30 assists and added 4 digs and 3 service aces. JJ Edwards had a match high 13 digs.
The Clippers will conclude the 2008 season on Thursday, November 6th against the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY. The match will begin at 7:00 PM.
