Volleyball Falls to NYIT 3-1

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College volleyball team was defeated by the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology 3-1 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Set scores were 16-25, 9-25, 25-22, 14-25.

 

 

Freshman Juliann Gilespie (Clarkston, MI) notched her first double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 rebounds. Gillespie also finished with 3 service aces and 2 assists. Freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) also totaled 11 kills and added 9 digs and 2 service aces. Freshman Alicia Oberle (Savannah, GA) added 5 kills and freshman Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) chipped in 28 assists, 3 kills, 7 digs and 2 service aces. 

For the Bears, Shelby Klein led all attackers with 16 kills. Ali Falbo finished with 9 kills and 6 digs, while Rebecca Lowe added 8 kills and 4 digs. Emily Syers directed the Bears offense and totaled 35 assists to go along with 6 service aces, 4 digs and 4 kills.

With the loss, the Clippers fall to 2-14 overall and 0-8 in the East Coast Conference. NYIT improves to 9-15 on the season and 5-3 in the conference.

Concordia will take on the Lions of Molloy College on Thursday, October 9th in Rockville Centre, NY. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
