Clippers Fall in Five to Mercy

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College volleyball team was defeated by the Mavericks of Mercy College last night by a score of 3-2 at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Set scores were 12-25, 25-16, 14-25, 25-23 and 11-15. Concordia lost their 17th straight match and fall to 2-22 overall and 0-13 in the East Coast Conference. Mercy improves to 7-19 on the season and 2-11 in the East Coast Conference.

 

 

Concordia was led by freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA), who totaled a team high10 kills, 13 digs and 3 service aces. Freshman Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) had 8 kills and a team high 15 digs, while freshman Alicia Oberle (Savannah, GA) finished with 7 kills and 8 digs. Freshman setter Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) collected 26 assists and had 10 digs. Wise also tied a season high for service aces with 5 on the night.

For the Mavericks, Diana Bruzzone pounded down a match high 21 kills and registered 16 digs. Shedeiky Hamilton and Ashley Zufelt added 18 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Mirlusca Montes finished with a match high 22 digs for Mercy.

Concordia will play their final home match of the 2008 season on Thursday, October 30th against the Panthers of Adelphi University at the Meyer Athletic Center. The match will begin at 7:00 PM.
