Volleyball Comes Up Short Against Saint Rose 3-1

Bronxville, NY - Freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) finished with a match high 12 kills and a team high 15 digs as the Clippers lost a 3-1 decision to the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY.The Clippers dropped the first two sets 11-25 and 21-25 before taking the third set 25-19. The Golden Knights came out in the fourth set to win 25-20.

 

 

Margedant finished one kill shy of a season high and recorded her 6th double-double of the season. Freshman Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) also registered a double-double with 22 assists and 10 digs, to go along with 5 kills and 2 service aces. Freshman Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) added 7 kills and 7 digs. Freshman Alicia Oberle (Savannah, GA) and sophomore Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) each chipped in 5 kills. Byrd was also a defensive star with 15 digs for the Clippers.

For Saint Rose, Chelsea Tyler led the way with 10 kills and Kelly Ryan had 8 kills. Marilyn Glamack, Rachel Baxter and Jaclyn Griffin all finished with 7 kills for the Golden Knights. Setter Theresa Staulo directed the offense with 43 assists and had 6 service aces. Lisa Geonnotti collected 17 digs.

The loss drops the Clippers to 2-21 overall. Saint Rose improves to 12-7 on the season.

Concordia will host the Mavericks of Mercy College on Tuesday, October 28th at the Meyer Athletic Center in an ECC battle. The match will begin at 7:00 PM.
