Volleyball Falls to Pioneers 3-0
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College volleyball team fell 3-0 at the hands of the C.W. Post Pioneers last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Scores of the 3-set match were 16-25, 12-25 and 13-25.
Freshman Alicia Oberle (Savannah, GA) tied a season high hitting percentage of .467 by registering 8 kills against only 1 error in 15 attempts. Freshman Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) also hammered down 8 kills and finished with 5 digs. Sophomore libero Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) and freshman opposite Carmen Juan (Bronx, NY) collected 8 digs and 5 digs, respectively. Freshman setter Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) added 18 assists, 3 kills and 4 digs.
For the Pioneers, Laura Maehlmann had a match high 13 kills and 6 digs. Kerri Heitner finished with 9 kills and 11 digs, while teammate Lauren brown added 9 kills and 10 digs. Erica Valeriano directed the offense with 20 assists and Lucia Krskova finished with 19 assists.
The loss drops the Clippers to 2-17 overall and 0-11 in the East Coast Conference. The Pioneers improve to 8-10 on the season and 5-5 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will travel to Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, October 18th and play a tri-match with Caldwell College at 2:00 PM and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia beginning at 4:00 PM.
