Edwards and Lorenz Claim Weekly Honors

Bronx, NY - Senior Tiffany Edwards (Baytown, TX) was named ECC Player of the Week and freshman Maddy Lorenz (Spokane, WA) was voted the ECC Rookie of the Week, as released by the East Coast Conference office today in Bronx, NY.

Edwards claimed her first Player of the Week honors by averaging 3.38 kills per game in the two Clipper wins last week. Edwards hit .480 (13 kills/ 1 error/ 25 attempts) in a 3-game sweep of Mercy College and hit .379 (14 kills/ 3 errors/ 29 attempts) in a 5-game victory over Queens College. The senior also averaged 2.62 digs per game. Edwards shares the Player of the Week honors with Justyna Michon of Dowling College

Lorenz claimed her second straight and third overall Rookie of the Week honors by averaging 4.38 kills and 2.25 digs a game in the Clippers two wins. Lorenz had a team high 13 kills in the Mercy match and 22 kills in the Queens victory. Lorenz shares the Rookie of the Week honors this week with Ivana Kovacevic-Jurasin of the University of Bridgeport.

Concordia has won three straight matched to push their overall record to 12-10. Concordia is locked on a 4-way tie, with a 2-4 ECC record, with Molloy, Queens and NYIT, for the 6th, 7th and 8th and final playoff spot.

Concordia will travel to 3rd place Adelphi University on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00 PM and also travel to 1st place Dowling College on Thursday, October 25th at 7:00 PM. Adelphi and Dowling are two of the hottest teams in the ECC. Adelphi has won 6 straight matches and 13 out of their last 15 matches. The Golden Lions, who started the season at 2-7, have won 28 straight matches to boost their overall record to 30-7.
