Volleyball Outlasts Queens 3-2 for Third Straight Win

Bronxville, NY - Freshman Maddy Lorenz (Spokane, WA) pounded down a team high 22 kills and 10 digs to help lead the Clippers past Queens College 3-2 Thursday night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Game scores were 30-24, 19-30, 30-20, 28-30, 15-11.

 

 

Senior opposite Tiffany Edwards (Baytown, TX) also had a double-double, with 14 kills and 11 digs. Edwards also contributed 3 service aces and 3 assists.  Junior Shashawna Ball (San Jose, CA) chipped in 8 kills and senior Amanda Westfall (Cedar City, UT) added 7 kills. The Clippers put forth their best blocking performance of the season against the Knights, finishing witha season high 9.5 blocks. Concordia outblocked the taller Knights 9.5 - 8.0. Freshman libero Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) had a match high 16 digs.

For Queens College, Enobong Shammah finished with a match high 24 kills and Natalie Edwards had 19 kills. Enobong hit .629 (24 kills/ 2 errors/ 35 attempts) for the match. Setter Mariannamegas finished with 44 assists.

The win was the third straight victory for the Clippers and improves their overall record to 12-10. The Clippers also move into a 4-way tie, at 2-4 in the East Coast Conference, for the final 3 playoff spots. The Knights fall to 11-11 overall and 2-4 in the East Coast Conference. Molloy, NYIT, Queens and Concordia are all tied at 2-4 in the conference.

Concordia will return to the floor on Tuesday, October 23rd, as they travel to Garden City, NY to battle the Panthers of Adelphi University. The action will start at 7:00 PM.
