Clippers Top Mavericks 3-0 for First Conference Win

Dobbs Ferry, NY - Senior opposite Tiffany Edwards (Baytown, TX) paced the Clippers with 13 kills and 10 digs to lead Concordia past the Mavericks of Mercy College 3-0 last night in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Game scores were 30-27, 30-22 and 30-20.

 

 

Edwards finished the match hitting a seasons best .480 (13 kills/1 error/25 attempts) hitting percentage, besting the previous hitting percentage of .447 against C.W. Post on October 11th. Freshman Maddy Lorenz (Spokane, WA) also hammered down 13 kills for the Clippers and chipped in 8 digs, 4 service aces and a solo block. Lorenz was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week earlier in the day by the East Coast Conference office. Junior outside hitter Shashawna Ball (San Jose, CA) added 5 kills for Concordia. Freshman libero Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) finished with a team high 11 digs. Byrd has posted double-digit digs in all but two matches thus far.

For the Flyers, Diana Bruzzone collected 13 kills and 10 digs and Mariola St. Fleur pounded down 9 kills. Natalee Carty finished with a team high 13 digs for the Mavericks.

The Clippers win their second straight match to improve to 11-10 overall and 1-4 in the East Coast Conference. Mercy College falls to 7-15 overall and 0-6 in the East Coast Conference.

Concordia will look to pick-up another ECC win on Thursday, October 18th, as they host the Knights of Queens College at the Meyer Athletic Center. The action gets underway at 7:00 PM
