Golden Lions Too Much for Clippers

The Concordia College volleyball team was defeated by the Golden Lions of Dowling College last night 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the East Coast Conference tournament in Oakdale, NY. Game scores were 13-30, 14-30 and 26-30. The Clippers were led by outside hitter Cindy Eckard (Woodstock, VA), who posted 8 kills and 2 digs. Tiffany Edwards (Baytown, TX) added 7 kills and 2 digs and middle blocker Ariel Isaac (Sacramento, CA) chipped in 5 kills, a service ace and 2 blocks. Junior libero Amanda Westfall (Cedar City, UT) led the defense with 3 digs.

For the Golden Lions, Irina Belozerova had a match high 15 kills and 5 blocks and Justyna Michon added 10 kills. Rachel Zulick set the attack for Dowling College, registering 42 assists for the match. Zulick also added 5 blocks. Ashley DoEpp finished with a match high 12 digs. Dowling will move on to the East Coast Conference semi-finals to face the CW Post Pioneers on Friday, November 3rd at Suffolk Community College. The Pioneers defeated Adelphi University 3-1 in quarter-final action.

The Clippers conclude the 2006 season with a record of 10-17 overall and 2-7 in the East Coast Conference.
