Pairings Announced for 2006 East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Championships

The field has been set and the seeding has been announced for the 2006 East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Championships. All quarter-final matched will be played on Wednesday, November 1^st. The Clippers (2-7 ECC) have earned the #8 seed in the tournament and will travel to Oakdale, NY to face the Golden Lions of Dowling College (9-0 ECC). The University of New Haven (8-1 ECC) will be the #2 seed and will host their rival from Connecticut, the University of Bridgeport (3-6 ECC). CW Post (5-4 ECC), Adelphi University (5-4 ECC) and Queens College (5-4 ECC) all finished tied for the 4^th spot. All three teams went 1-1 in match play against the other two teams involved in the tie during the season. Therefore, the tie-breaker went to games won and lost versus the other two teams. CW Post will take the #4 seed. CW Post went 4-3 with a 3-0 win over Queens and a 1-3 loss to Adelphi. CW Post will host the #5 seed Panthers of Adelphi, who went 4-4 in the 3-way tie. Adelphi finished 4-4, defeating CW Post 3-1 and losing to Queens College 1-3. The Knights of Queens College will be the #6 seed and travel to Old Westbury, NY to face the #3 seed NYIT Bears (7-2 ECC) in the quarter-finals.

This will be the 3^rd meeting for the Clippers and Golden Lions this season, with Dowling defeating the Clippers 3-0 in both encounters. The 1^st meeting was back on Saturday, September 2^nd at the CW Post Labor Day Tournament. Dowling won the match 30-24, 30-18 and 30-22. The 2^nd match was the regular season match played at Concordia on Thursday, October. The Golden Lions won that match 30-26, 30-13 and 30-21.

The quarter-final action will begin at 7:00 PM.
