Knights Outlast Clippers 3-1
(Bronxville, NY) - The Concordia College volleyball team lost a close match to the Knights of Queens College 3-1 tonight in Flushing, NY. Game scores were 30-25, 28-30, 30-22, 30-25. Concordia was led by junior outside hitter Lohea Merola (Kailua-Kona, HI), who tallied a team high 14 kills and had 4 digs. Junior opposite Tiffany Edwards (Baytown, TX) finished with a double-double. Edwards had 10 kills and 14 digs, to go along with a solo block and 4 assist blocks. Freshman setter Kristina Bennett (Simi Valley, CA) totaled 28 assists, 6 kills and 9 digs. Junior outside hitter Cindy Eckard (Woodstock, VA) had a team high 17 digs. Concordia had their best blocking match of the season, recording a season high 14 blocks.
For the Knights, Natalie Edward led the Queen's offense with a match high 18 kills. Karin Sauer chipped in 17 kills and Jacquie Wicks had 13 kills. Setter Dawn Richardson dished out 49 assists for the match.
The loss drops the Clippers record to 6-14 overall and 0-6 in the East Coast Conference. Queens College improves to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers return to action on Thursday, October 19, as they host the Golden Lions of Dowling College. The game begins at 7:00 PM.
