PHILADELPHIA - The Concordia College women's tennis team visited Holy Family University on Saturday for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at the Union League Tennis Courts. The Clippers would take a 9-0 victory as Concordia remained undefeated in the young season.
Doubles action saw the No. 1 duo of junior Kristel Kalm (Stockholm, Sweden) and sophomore Siri Victorsson (Stockholm, Sweden) earned an 8-0 shutout win against Meghan Moyer and Alleyn Llaban. The No. 3 duo of junior Tadi Mrewa (East London, South Africa) and freshman Franziska Putschbach (Moenchweiler, Germany) also took an 8-0 win against Kelsey Marigliano and Amanda Paredes while the No. 2 duo of freshman Josefina Torres Martin (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Angelica Karlsson Hantzis (Fuengirola, Malaga, Spain) captured an 8-1 victory against Sam Klem and Casey Thomas to give the Clippers the 3-0 lead going into singles play.
Concordia would take 6-0, 6-0 straight set wins in five of the six singles matches. Victorsson defeated Llaban in the No. 1 match, Karlsson Hantzis defeated Moyer in the No. 2 match, Mrewa defeated Klem in the No. 4 match, Putschbach defeated Marigliano in the No. 5 match, and freshman Katrina Sta Cruz (Las Vegas, Nev.) defeated Dana Dockery in the No. 6 match. The Tigers would only win one game in the No. 3 match, but Torres Martin would top Thomas 6-0, 6-1 as the Clippers earned the shutout victory.
Concordia (2-0, 2-0 CACC) will be back in action tomorrow at 12 p.m. as the Clippers will visit the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa. for a CACC match.
