BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College Department of Athletics has announced that the women's tennis program will return for the 2017-18 academic year after a year of hiatus due to lack of participants. The Rev. John Arthur Nunes, Ph.D., President of Concordia College, and Director of Athletics Kathy Laoutaris made the joint announcement on Friday afternoon.
"For more than three decades, tennis was a cornerstone sport at Concordia," explained Nunes. "Kudos to Neil and Dan for their exemplary efforts to provide the student-athletes of our women's program with this opportunity to again compete intercollegiately."
"We are extremely excited to be able to bring back women's tennis," stated Laoutaris. "A lot of hard work went into the return; coaches Tarangioli and Rockhill have been instrumental in its return. We look forward to watching these extraordinary student-athletes compete against our highly competitive CACC conference."
The Clippers will return to the tennis courts on Saturday, September 9th in the Meyers Tennis Center against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Jefferson University. Concordia captured the CACC Championships for seven consecutive seasons from 2009-2015 before their absence last year.
Other home opponents this fall include Caldwell University on September 20th, Molloy College on October 4th, Chestnut Hill College on October 8th, and defending CACC Champion Goldey-Beacom College on October 15th.
