New Haven, Conn. – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) has released its 2012 All-CACC Women's Tennis Teams and individual honors. Concordia has four players named to the teams in which the voting was conducted by the conference's nine head coaches as well as CACC Coach of the Year recognition as announced at the conference's annual banquet on Friday night.
Head coach Neil Tarangioli was named the CACC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year after guiding his team to a perfect 8-0 conference record as the Clippers captured the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the CACC Tournament.
Freshman Luisa Candido (Boca Raton, Fla.) was honored as CACC Rookie of the Year after posting a singles record of 6-1 and a doubles record of 5-1. This is Concordia's first conference rookie of the year award since 2009. Candidio would also be named to the All-CACC First Team along with senior Yuliya Plevako (Astana, Kazakhstan) after a 3-1 singles and 7-0 doubles record in CACC play. This is Plevako's second straight first team selection.
Sophomore Alla Kravchuk (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and senior Ana Mendes (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) would be named to the All-CACC Second Team. This was Kravchuk's first All-CACC selection after posting a singles record of 4-2 and a doubles record of 7-0 in her first season with the Clippers. Mendes, who was named to the second team for the second straight season, finished CACC play with a 6-0 singles record and a 6-1 doubles record. Senior Clara Catanzano (Sete, France) would be recognized as an Honorable Mention after a perfect 7-0 singles record and a prefect 8-0 doubles record in CACC matches.
Concordia (8-0, 8-0 CACC) will look to capture their fourth straight CACC Tournament Title over the weekend. Their semifinal match will be against the No. 4 seeded Holy Family University Tigers on Saturday morning.
