Clippers Fall at Home to Indiana (PA) for First Loss, 6-3
Bronxville, NY – The twenty-seventh ranked Concordia College Clippers women's tennis team played in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon at the Meyers Tennis Center. The Clippers battled the twenty-ninth ranked Indiana University (PA) Crimson Hawks as Concordia would suffer their first loss of the season, 6-3.
The Clippers struggled early in the match as Indiana (PA) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Yuliya Plevako (Astana, Kazakhstan) and Clara Catanzano (Sete, France) captured a win at #1 doubles with an 8-5 victory.
Ana S.O. Mendes (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) and Juliana Frey (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) fell at #2 doubles, 8-5, while the #3 doubles team of Maria Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia) and Camilla Gomes Xavier (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) were defeated 8-1.
In singles competition, Plevako won at #1 singles 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 10-5 and Frey captured a victory at #4 singles 6-4, 0-6, 10-3. Concordia was unable to secure any more wins as they would drop the remaining four matches.
Concordia (10-1, 8-0 CACC) have no more regular season matches on their schedule. The Clippers will now wait until the seeding is announced to determine who they will play in the NCAA post season.
