Clippers continue CACC run with win over Rams

The Clippers headed down to Pennsylvania to face off against the Philadelphia University Rams.  The Clippers started off strong in the doubles as number one doubles team Yuliya Plevako and Ola Roberts showed their strength with an 8-0 victory.

Adeline Brennan and Ana S.O Mendes stayed steady at the number three doubles position.  With just one game to the Rams the Clipper pair easily came off the court with an 8-1 win.

Juliana Frey and Maria Ortiz went back and forth as they stayed on serve through five games each with their Rams opponent.  After a break of serve in the Clippers favor, Frey and Ortiz finished out the matches next two games with ease grabbing the 8-5 win and giving the Clippers the 3-0 team match score heading into the singles.

Ola Roberts, at the number one singles spot, was on serve in her first set 3-3 before taking the first set 6-3.  Roberts then breezed through her second set, not allowing one game to go in the Rams favor.  Roberts grabbed the second set 6-0.

Yuliya Plevako held court through out both of her sets at the number two singles position.  Plevako went a perfect 6-0; 6-0 giving the Clippers the fifth team point of the match.

Juliana Frey stayed in control through her first set as she came away with a 6-0 set score at the number three singles.  Frey's second set shifted away from her as she was broken twice to be forced into a third set tiebreaker.  Frey fought back in the tiebreaker and collected a 10-6 score to take the match.

Ana S.O Mendes stayed on serve in her first set at the number four singles position.  With an unfortunate service break Mendes saw herself down a set.  Mendes' second set was another back and forth service hold game.  At five all Mendes was broken again and dropped the match.

Adeline Brennan found little trouble on her court at the number five singles spot.  With a first set win of 6-1; Brennan let up just two more games before capturing her 6th straight singles victory of the year with a 6-2 second set win.

Maria Ortiz finished out the singles line-up for the Clippers as she followed in Plevako's steps holding court through both sets.  With a 6-0; 6-0 win, Ortiz gave the Clippers the 8-1 team match win over the Rams.

The Clippers will next face last year CACC finalist the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning on Wednesday, October 6th at 3:30pm in Wilmington, DE.
