Bronx, NY - Clippers sail into CACC Finals with a 5-0 victory over Philadelphia University
The Clippers women's tennis team faced off in the CACC team tournament for the first time. The #1 seeded Clippers hosted the #4 Philadelphia University Rams in the semifinals.
With the doubles out on the courts first the Clippers looked to sail to the early lead. The doubles team of Ola Roberts and Cristina Oliveira dominated their opponents, Daniela Rodriguez and Brittany Villa (Phila. Univ.) at the #1 doubles slot with an 8-0 victory. Yuliya Plevako and Maria Ortiz, at #2 doubles were right behind as they defeated Stephanie Miller and Laura Beaver (Phila. Univ.) with the easy 8-1 win. Adeline Brennan and Camilla Xavier completed the doubles sweep at #3 singles with an 8-2 win over Sarah Harris and Christina Brzozoski (Phila. Univ.).
With the Clippers up 3-0 over the Rams the Clipper needed just two
more wins to head to the finals. Yuliya Plevako was the first
to finish at #3 singles as she held court with a 6-0; 6-0 victory
over Brittany Villa (Phila. Univ.). With just one more match
to win for the Clippers it would be a race to see who would nab
it. At #5 singles, Maria Ortiz followed Plevako's game and
defeated Sarah Harris (Phila. Univ.) 6-0; 6-0 and put the
Clippers into the CACC Championship game.
The Clippers will head to Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA to face off against the winner of the Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University Semifinal match on Thursday, October 15th at 3:00pm.
