Clippers season finishes in Florida
The Clippers Women's Tennis Team went down to continue their quest for a National Championship in the NCAA Division II tennis tournament. After winning their regional bracket the women headed into the Sweet 16 to face off against Hawai'i Pacific.
With the doubles as usual starting first the Clippers st
epped on the court. Ola Roberts and Cristina Oliveira worked
hard together on the court as they were on serve with their west
coast opponents. With twelve games played the score remained
tied. Roberts and Oliveira then was unfortunately broken and
they dropped the match 8-6.
Yuliya Plevako and Maria Ortiz, at the number two doubles position, were broken a couple of times. With the pair gaining three games, Plevako and Ortiz struggled to get anymore and they fell 8-3.
Adeline Brennan and Camilla Xavier struggled from the start at the number three doubles spot. The pair was unfortunately broken all four service games and fell 8-0.
With the Clippers behind from the start 3-0, the singles matches would be where the Clippers would need to prevail.
Yuliya Plevako, at the number three singles court, showed her
strength on the court. With surrendering just two games and
breaking her opponents other two service games, Plevako went on to
win the set 6-2. Plevako then went on to her second set and
continued her court play. With breaking her opponent twice
Plevako took the second set 6-2 to give the Clippers a point on the
board.
Unfortunately that point would be the Clippers only point in the match as the Clippers dropped two singles matches for the team match to end 1-5.
The Clippers finish their season at 17-2.
