Clippers Stop Golden Lions 7-2

Bronxville, NY - Senior Somadi Druker (Capetown, South Africa) won at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles to help the Clippers defeat the Dowling College Golden Lions 7-2 yesterday at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. Druker swept Cristina Hoffman 6-0, 6-0 at No.2 singles and teamed with senior Celise Sesanker (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) at No. 1 doubles to top Tamiris Diversi and Hoffman by a score of 8-2.

Junior Cristina Oliveira (Porto Allegre, Brazil) and freshman Maria Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles over Kobasiuk and Jenn Tripp. Junior Tita Kiss (Stamford, CT) and sophomore Adeline Brennan (Toms River, NJ) suffered their first dual match loss of the season at No. 3 doubles against Cristina Sousa and Therese DeSoiza 8-6.

In singles play, the Clippers swept through the Golden Lions in all flights except for No. 4 singles, where Kiss lost 6-0, 3-6, 8-10 to Tripp.

Concordia improves to a perfect 3-0 on the season. All three matches have been against East Coast Conference opponents. The Golden Lions suffer their first loss and fall to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

The Clippers will host the Knights of Queens College on Wednesday, September 24th at the Meyers Tennis Center. The match will begin at 3:30 PM.
