Altamonte Springs, FL - The Concordia College women's tennis season came to a halt in the Quarterfinal Round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships with a 5-0 loss to the Wildcats of Abilene Christian University today at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL. The Clippers qualified for just their second trip in school history to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships. Their previous appearance was during the 1999 campaign.

The Wildcats dominated the doubles portion of the match. Irene Squillaci and Jaclyn Walker defeated seniors Somadi Druker (Capetown, South Africa) and Celise Sesanker (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) by a score of 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Junior Cristina Oliveira (Porto Allegre, Brazil) and freshman Maria Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia) lost an 8-3 decision to Dina Pavlin and Sarah Drummond at No. 2 doubles and sophomore Adeline Brennan (Toms River, NJ) and junior Tita Kiss (Stamford, CT) fell to Lauren White and Cassie Carver 8-2 at No. 3 doubles to give the Wildcats the 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Needing only two points to close out the match, Carver made quick work of Kiss and Pavlin beat Ortiz by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively to send the Wildcats into the Semifinal Round.

The Clippers finish the 2008-2009 season with a 16-3 record.
