Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's tennis team earned a berth in the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Finals with a 5-0 victory over the Panthers of Adelphi University yesterday at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers remain unbeaten on the season at 10-0, while the Panthers end their season at 6-7 overall.

The Clippers took control by winning all three doubles matches. Seniors Somadi Druker (Capetown, South Africa) and Celise Sesanker (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) defeated Alda Ribeiro and Megan Margino at No. 1 doubles by an 8-2 score. At No. 2 doubles, junior Cristina Oliveira (Porto Allegre, Brazil) and freshman Maria Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia) dominated Jamie Sussman and Carolyn Smith 8-0. Sophomore Adeline Brennan (Toms River, NJ) and junior Tita Kiss (Stamford, CT) won 8-4 over Trisha Burns and Kristina Radeva at No. 3 doubles.

With the Clippers needing only two more victories to capture the match and head into the finals, Druker picked up a win over Smith at No. 2 singles by default to put the Clippers up 4-0. With three matches going at the same time, Sesanker beat Sussman at No. 3 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-0 to put the Clippers into tomorrow's ECC Finals. Oliveira was winning the first set 5-2 at No. 1 singles and Kiss was ahead 6-0, 3-1 at No. 4 singles when Sesanker's match finished.

The Clippers will look to qualify for the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships with a win over the Queens College Knights on Tuesday, October 23rd at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. The Knights are the 5-time defending ECC Women's Tennis Tournament Champions. The match will begin at 2:00 PM.
