Druker and Sesanker Compete in ITA National Tournament
Mobile, AL - Seniors Somadi Druker (Capetown, South Africa) and Celise Sesanker (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) competed in the 2008 ITA National Small College Championship Presented by the USTA this past Thursday and Friday in Mobile, AL.
The duo entered the tournament seeded 8th and faced the No. 1 seeded team of Hewenfei Li and Seulki Chin of BYU-Hawaii on Thursday afternoon. Druker and Sesanker fell 6-1, 6-0 to the top team, which dropped them into the 5th place-8th place bracket.
On Friday, the Clippers were matched up against Zuzanna Osinska and Emina Spirtovic of Northeastern State University. The Riverhawk team defeated the Clippers 7-5, 6-1, which put the Clippers in the 7th place match for their final contest of the tournament. In that match, Druker and Sesanker were victorious over Sarah Madigan and Marina Bugaenco of Minnesota State-Mankato 6-2, 6-4 to capture 7th place overall.
The Clippers will return to the court on Wednesday, October 22nd, as they host the Panthers of Adelphi University in the East Coast Conference semi-finals. Concordia is the No. 1 seed in the ECC Women's Tennis Tournament. The action gets underway at 3:00 PM.
