Women's Tennis Topples Dowling 5-4
Oakdale, NY - The Concordia College women's tennis team defeated the Golden Lions of Dowling College 5-4 in a ECC match-up in Oakdale, NY. Sophomore Somadi Druker (Capetown, South Africa) defeated Christina Hoffman at #1 singles 6-0 and 6-3. Druker, teamming with freshman Adeline Brennan (Toms River, NJ), also won at #1 doubles 8-4 over Hoffman and Diane Kobasiuk. Junior Celise Sesanker (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) and senior Amy Boyd (Phoenix, AZ) were victorious at #2 doubles over Ashley Hornishy and Jenn Tripp 8-5. Both Sesanker and Boyd were winners in their respective singles matches. Sesanker was a straight set winner over Hornishy 6-2 and 6-1 at #2 singles. Boyd, playing at #4 singles, defeated Eleni Speyer 6-4 and 6-3.
With the win, the Clippers remain a perfect 3-0 overall and move to 3-0 in East Coast Conference play. Dowling College falls to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will continue with ECC play on Tuesday, September
25th, as they host the Chargers of the University of New Haven. The
matches will be played at the Meyers Tennis Center on the campus of
Concordia College and will begin at 3:30 PM.
