Women's Tennis Earns ECC Finals Berth With 5-0 Win

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's tennis team downed the Panthers of Adelphi University 5-0 yesterday at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers will be playing in the East Coast Conference finals for the second consecutive season.

The second seeded Clippers swept through the doubles portion, with Celise Sesanker (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) and Amy Boyd (Phoenix, AZ) winning at #1 doubles 8-5 over Alda Ribeiro and Megan Margino. Sophomore Somadi Druker (Capetown, South Africa) and freshman Adeline Brennan (Toms River, NJ) easily defeated Amanda Anaboli and Kristina Radeva 8-1 at #2 doubles and Tita Kiss (Stamford, CT) and Sabrina Hager (Manchester, NJ) managed to get by Trisha Burns and Katie Flynn 9-7 at #3 doubles.

With just two wins away from capturing the semi-final victory, Kiss defeated Daniella Sanderson 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles. Brennan downed Margino at #3 singles 6-3, 6-1 to capture the win.

The Clippers improve to 7-1 on the season and will look to avenge their only loss of the season on Thursday, October 11th, as they travel to Flushing, NY to face the Knights of Queens College in the East Coast Conference Finals. The top seeded Knights defeated fourth seeded Dowling College 5-0 yesterday in Flushing, NY to earn their trip to the ECC Finals. First serve is set for 2:00 PM.
