Former NASL professional Patrick Horne is the new head women's soccer coach at Concordia College, a member of the ECC (East Coast Conference). Horne was an assistant with Molloy College women's program during the 2006 season and helped Molloy to its best ever record as the team registered the most wins in a season (14-7) and made its first appearance in the ECC Postseason Tournament. The Lions finished fourth in the ECC and later lost to University of Bridgeport in the ECAC Div. II final. The 2006 campaign was Horne's first stint coaching women's college soccer.
Previous to joining Molly, Horne led NJCAA Div. I Globe Institute of Technology from 2002-2005 and won the 2003 Region 21 Postseason Tournament. Globe Institute also was awarded the NISOA 2004 Sportsmanship Award by the New York Metropolitan Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association for exemplary sportsmanship on and off the field.
The new coach is very familiar with the ECC. He was at the helm at Southampton College (11-5-2) in 2001 and led that institution to a third place finish in the NYCAC, the forerunner to the ECC, and an appearance in the 2001 ECAC finals. Horne also coached Old Westbury College (L.I.) from 1998-2000 and won the HudsonValley Conference regular and postseason tournaments in 2000.
As a collegiate player, Horne was a member of the SIUE Cougars, who were runners-up to the University of San Francisco in the 1975 NCAA Div. I Final, hosted by SIUE.
Horne and his family live in Baldwin (NY). He played for
the Memphis Rogues of the defunct NASL in 1978, is a former Region
One ODP and LIJSL Select coach and holds a USSF ‘B' license.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
in 1976 with a BA in Mass Communications.
