BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's soccer team returned to Holtdorf Soccer Field and their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Saturday to host Chestnut Hill College. Concordia would earn a 3-1 victory over the Griffins as the Clippers snapped an eight game winless streak.
Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the first half as Concordia out-shot their opponents 12-3. It wouldn't be until the 60th minute that the game saw its first goal as sophomore Sara Calvert (Apple Valley, Calif.) dribbled the ball to the corner flag and sent a cross to sophomore Taylor Luxoro (Staten Island, N.Y.) for the one-time shot for her first goal of the season.
Eight minutes later the Clippers their second goal of the game as a turnover in the box by Chestnut Hill allowed freshman Cassandra Iantomasi (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) to take a shot from the middle of the 18-yard box for her first collegiate goal. Concordia scored their final goal in the 84th minute as graduate Amanda Astudillo (Westbury, N.Y.) controlled the ball and centered it to junior Dayna Darcy (Plainedge, N.Y.) for a shot from the top of the 18-yard box as Darcy scored her second goal of the season to give the Clippers a 3-0 lead. The Griffins scored their only goal in the 85th minute as Concordia held on to take a 3-1 victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Christina Majdanski (Yonkers, N.Y.) earned her first victory in net for the Clippers as she recorded five saves. Concordia out-shot Chestnut Hill, 21-10, and also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
