Brookhaven, N.Y. – The Concordia women's soccer team traveled to Dowling College Monday afternoon for a non-conference match against the No. 23rd ranked Golden Lions. After allowing one goal in the first half the Clippers were unable to mount a comeback as they dropped a 5-0 decision at Dowling.
The Golden Lions scored their first half goal off a rebounded shot that hit the crossbar. Freshman goalkeeper Johana Vargas (Queens, N.Y.) recorded nine saves in the half for Concordia as Dowling took 22 shots in the opening 45 minutes.
The second half would be controlled by the Golden Lions as the team took 16 shots and found the back of the net four more times. Vargas finished the game with 13 saves for the Clippers while Dowling's goalkeepers recorded one save.
Concordia (0-4-0, 0-2-0 CACC) will have the remainder of the week off from competition until their next match this Saturday. The Clippers will travel to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Chestnut Hill College for a 1pm match in Philadelphia.
