Clippers Stay Unbeaten With 4-0 Victory
Bronxville, NY - Senior Michelle Tapper (Queens, NY) scored a goal and added an assist in the Clippers 4-0 win over the Pioneers of Columbia Union College yesterday at Holtdorf Soccer Field in Bronxville, NY.
The Clippers jumped out to an early lead with Tapper's first goal of the season in the 4th minute of play and would double the lead on a goal by junior Sabrina Imbrogno (Yonkers, NY) two minutes later. The score would remain 2-0 for the rest of the first half.
In the second half, sophomore Nancy Vargas (Brooklyn, NY) would connect on two goals, one in the 58th minute and the other in the 77th minute to give the Clippers the 4-0 win.
The Clippers fired off a season high 27 shots, with 19 shots coming in the first half. Sophomore Katrina Donaldson (Laurelton, NY) finished with 5 shots for the game, but wasn't able to find the back of the net.
Junior Aileen Alvear (Woodhaven, NY) played the full 90 minutes in goal for Concordia, improving to 2-0 on the season. Alvear finished with 1 save for the game. Kelsie Shaffer finished with 9 saves for the Pioneers.
The Clippers improve to a perfect 2-0 on the season, while the Pioneers are still searching for their first win with an 0-4 record.
Concordia will return to Holtdorf Soccer Field on Wednesday, September 10th to host the Chargers of Dominican College in non-conference action. The action gets underway at 3:30 PM.
