Molloy Hands Concordia 3-0 Loss

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's soccer team was dealt a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Lions of Molloy College yesterday at Holtdorf Soccer Field in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers lose their third straight game and fall to 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in the East Coast Conference. The Lions move to 4-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the East Coast Conference.

The Lions would open the scoring in the 30th minute when Gillian Fortune dribbled to the left side of the goal and fired the ball in front of the goal. Joanna Taylor was the first to get to the ball and headed it past junior goalkeeper Aileen Alvear (Woodhaven, NY) for a 1-0 lead. The Lions would double the lead a minute later on an unassisted goal by Ashley Kilcommons. Molloy out shot Concordia 9-5 and Alvear had 5 saves in the first half of play.

In the second half, Molloy would add the final goal of the game in the 71st minute when Kate-Lynn Muir took a direct kick and blasted a shot off the goalkeepers hands and into the net.

For the game, the Clippers were out shot 14-7. Freshman Alisha Phillips (Surrey, England) finished with 3 shots and junior Rachel Woodland (Woking, England) added 2 shots. Alvear had a total of 8 saves in goal for the Clippers.

The Clippers return to the field on Saturday, September 27th, as they travel to Old Westbury, NY to face the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology in an East Coast Conference match-up. The game will kick-off at 12:00 PM.
