Pioneers Surge Past Clippers 7-0

Brookville, NY - The Concordia College women's soccer team was defeated by the Pioneers of C.W. Post 7-0 today in Brookville, NY. C.W. Post is currently ranked #6 in NCAA Division II Women's Soccer and #1 in the East Region.

Maria Sonnerborg scored the first three goals of the game, with the first goal coming in the 8th minute. Ivana Babic assisted on two of the first three goals and scored the fourth goal of the game in the 19th minute of action.

 

 

Sanna Pettersson scored before halftime to put the Pioneers up 5-0 at the break. Pettersson would add a second goal on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute and her third goal of the game on an assist from Samantha Barbero in the 57th minute to make the final score 7-0.

The Clippers were out shot 12-3 for the game. Junior Kenisha Masters (Queens, NY), freshman Kareena Seaton (Medford, NY) and sophomore Jen Stefankiewcz (Elkhorn, NE) each finished with one shot on goal for the Clippers. Junior Aileen Alvear (Woodhaven, NY) collected two saves for Concordia.

The Clippers fall to 4-6 overall with the loss and 0-4 in the East Coast Conference. The Pioneers improve to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Concordia will host the Panthers of Adelphi University in an ECC match-up on Wednesday, October 8th at Holtdorf Soccer Field. The game will begin at 3:00 PM.
