Clippers Fall to Knights 7-0
Flushing, NY - The Concordia College women's soccer team lost their final ECC game of the season to the Knights of Queens College 7-0 yesterday afternoon in Flushing, NY. The loss drops the Clippers record to 4-12-1 overall and 0-8-1 in the East Coast Conference. Queens improves to 12-5 overall and 4-4 in the East Coast Conference.
The Knights got on the board in the 2nd minute on a goal by Katherine Colon, her first of three goals on the day. Colon would again score in the 6th minute and Andrea Slavin connected in the 12th minute to put Queens ahead 3-0.
In the 25th minute, Slavin assisted on a goal by Melissa Cuartas and four minutes later, Christina Salameh scored on an unassisted goal to make the halftime score 5-0.
In the second half, Colon would get her third goal of the game on a pass from Jennifer Robbins in the 81st minute. Slavin would get the final goal of the game on an unassisted goal as she dribbled through the Clipper defense and fired a shot past junior Aileen Alvear (Woodhaven, NY) in the 87th minute. Alvear finished with 8 saves on the day and her counterpart, Valentina Duque gathered 6 saves for the game.
Junior Kenisha Masters (Queens, NY) led the Clippers with 3 shots and senior Nathifa Newby (Brooklyn, NY) added two shots.
The Clippers conclude the 2008 season on Thursday, October 30th, as they travel to Nyack, NY to tangle with the Warriors of Nyack College in a non-conference battle. The game begins at 3:00 PM.
