Women's Soccer defeats Deacons 2-1

Bloomfield, NJ - The Concordia College women's soccer team prevailed over the Deacons of Bloomfield 2-1 in a non-conference match-up today in Bloomfield, NJ. The Clippers improve to 4-5 on the season while Bloomfield slips to 2-6-1 overall.

The Deacons opened the scoring on a goal by Shawna Reynolds in the 32nd minute. Jerrica Lavooy and Christin Rutherford were both credited with an assist.

 

 

Concordia tied the game at 1-1 just 5 minutes later on an unassisted goal by junior Kenisha Masters (Queens, NY). Masters leads the Clippers with 3 goals so far this season.

The game would remain tied all the way until the 89th minute. As the game seemed destined for overtime, freshman Kareena Seaton (Medford, NY) fired the ball past Deacon goalkeeper Danielle Blumberg for the game winner. It was the first goal of the season for Seaton. Freshman Francesca Lombardo (Eastchester, NY) picked-up the assist, her first of the year.

Junior Aileen Alvear (Woodhaven, NY) finished with 9 saves and the one goal allowed. Blumberg registered 7 saves on the afternoon.

Concordia will travel to Brookville, NY on Saturday, October 4th to face the Pioneers of C.W. Post in an ECC match-up.
