Women's Soccer Falls in ECC Opener 5-0

Rockville Centre, NY - The Concordia College women's soccer team was defeated in their ECC opener by the Lions of Molloy College 5-0 on Saturday in rockville Centre, NY. Kate-Lynn Muir scored the opening goal in the second minute of the game. Muir would strike again in the 7th minute of the game to put the Lions ahead 2-0. Kristie Caruso assisted on both goals and would add a third assist just before halftime by Paula Sanelli.

Molloy would strike 55 seconds into the second half on a goal by Caruso, as the midfielder finished with a goal and 3 assists on the afternoon. Sanelli would finish the scoring for the game in the 85th minute to make the final score 5-0.

For the Clippers, goalkeeper Nathifa Newby (Brooklyn, NY) registered 9 saves in the first half of play and Mary Darbee finished with 5 saves, playing the entire second half.

The loss drops the Clippers to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the East Coast Conference. Molloy improves to 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers will look for their first win on Tuesday, September 25th, as they host the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology. The action gets underway at 3:00 PM.
