Pioneers Top Clippers 7-0

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's soccer team was defeated by the Pioneers of C.W. Post 7-0 today at Holtdorf Soccer Field in Bronxville, NY. Junior Maria Sonnerborg scored 2 goals, including the opening goal in the 9th minute. Freshman Samantha Barbero also scored 2 goals and added an assist for the Pioneers. Freshman Danielle DeLuca finished with a goal and 2 assists.

For the Clippers, junior Michelle Tapper (Queens, NY), senior Maura Torres (Queens, NY) and senior Lauren Russo (Laurelton, NY) each had a shot on goal for Concordia. Junior Mary Darbee (Patchogue, NY) played all 90 minutes in goal for Concordia, finishing with 9 saves and allowing 7 goals.

The loss drops the Clippers record to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the East Coast Conference. C.W. Post improves to 7-1-2 overall and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference.

Concordia will next travel to West Haven, CT on Tuesday, October 9th to face the Chargers of the University of New Haven in ECC action. The game will begin at 4:00 PM.
