Women's Soccer Closes Season With 9-1 Loss to Queens

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's soccer team was defeated by the Knights of Queens College 9-1 yesterday at Holtdorf Soccer Field in Bronxville, NY. Sophomore Rachel Woodland (Woking, England) put the Clippers ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute with her second goal of the season. The Clippers were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty box. The ball was controlled by senior Maura Torres (Queens, NY) just in front of the goal. Torres tapped the ball back to Woodland, who blasted it past the Knights goalkeeper.

The Knights would respond with a goal in the 20th minute by Jennifer Robbins to tie the game at 1-1. Caitlin O'Connell got the assist on the goal and would score a goal 12 minutes later to make the halftime score 2-1.

The turning point in the game came in the second half when the Knights would score 3 quick goals past goalkeeper Mary Darbee (Patchogue, NY) in a 5 minute span to increase the lead to 5-1 and take the wind out of the Clippers sail. Darbee would finish the game with 7 saves. Robbins would score 3 goals in the game for Queens College. Laura D'Amore chipped in two goals for the Knights, who improve to 6-10-2 overall and 4-5-1 in the East Coast Conference.

With the loss, the Clippers conclude the 2007 season with an overall record of 0-16 and0-10 in the East Coast Conference.
